Smithy Farm at Pentrefelin
Organic fruit, vegetables, bees, and skill-sharing — grown and rooted here.
Pentrefelin is now proud to be the home of Smithy Farm, run by organic grower Phil – a passionate food producer whose work reflects deep respect for soil, ecology, and community.
Phil brings his entire growing operation to Pentrefelin, where he produces a wide variety of organic, nutrient-dense fruit and vegetables using regenerative, low-input methods that prioritise soil health and biodiversity. He follows a no-dig approach, builds fertility through compost and cover cropping, and focuses on flavour, freshness, and seasonal eating.
Phil and Siôn work closely together — sharing knowledge and supporting each other’s enterprises — to produce truly seasonal food that evolves with the land and reflects the microclimate and ecology of this place.
Together, we’re developing a farm shop that will be stocked with the best of what the land offers.

Bees at Pentrefelin
As part of his work, Phil also keeps bees here on the farm
Phils bees help bring a huge benefit to both our growing systems and the wider landscape. These bees help pollinate vegetables, fruit trees, wildflowers, and hedgerows — supporting the health and resilience of our land. They’re an important part of our agroecological approach, and a beautiful reminder of nature’s interconnectedness.
Phil also runs the Saughall Farmers
Market, held every Saturday morning
9am until 12pm where you can buy
his organic vegetables and he also
takes a bottle or two of milk along with
him too!

Learn With Us
This summer, Phil will also be offering scything courses here at Pentrefelin — teaching traditional meadow management with a modern twist. Scything is an efficient, low-impact way to manage grassland and edges without fossil fuels or noise pollution — and a beautiful skill to learn if you want to connect more deeply with land and rhythm.
If your interested in getting involved in any of Phil's courses get in touch via the link below.
