From four heifers to a growing farming business.
Pentrefelin began with four Red Poll heifers and a belief that farming could work differently. Today, our farm brings together a cow-and-calf dairy, 100% grass-fed beef, a growing food business, market gardening and a farm shop. We've developed our business around producing good food, caring for the land and building direct relationships with customers. What started on one family farm is becoming the foundation for something a lot bigger.

Good farming needs a good business behind it.
We believe farming should be good for the land, good for the people it feeds and financially sustainable for those doing the work. That is why we have chosen to produce, process and sell our own food. Through direct sales from our farm shop, our own dairy processing, partnerships with local hospitality businesses and steady investment in the farm's buildings and equipment, we are building a business that keeps more of the value of what we grow and raise here on the farm.

Pentrefelin is a single, working farm in North Wales, and we would like to grow carefully from here. We are keen to talk with landowners, estates and land agents about farm tenancies, joint ventures, grazing partnerships and long-term relationships, where our hands-on regenerative farming experience and established routes to market could add real value to the land.
Meet Huw Foulkes.
I'm Huw, the farmer behind Pentrefelin. Over the past decade I've built the farm up from four Red Poll heifers into a diversified farming and food business, with regenerative livestock at its heart and our own dairy, beef, processing and farm shop alongside. Most of what I know has come from doing it: grazing cattle well, selling food directly to customers, processing our own milk and working out how to make good farming pay its way. I'm also a Farming Connect mentor and a director of LandLinked CIC, and I'm always glad to talk with landowners, estates and businesses who see the potential for farming to do more.
