cow-calf micro dairy course
Join me for a day as I navigate the daily tasks of running my cow and calf micro dairy

Since establishing the micro dairy in 2021 with just three Red Poll heifers and a cool box, I've faced numerous challenges. I'd be happy to share my experiences over the past five years, highlighting the obstacles I've overcome to develop a system that benefits the calves, the cows, and myself as a farmer.
We currently have 24 breeding cows, primarily consisting of home-bred stock. Additionally, we have over 20 heifers ranging in age from calves to those ready for breeding. We also maintain a beef herd, and all beef is sold directly to customers through our farm gate sales.
Even if you're completely new to milking, you'll have the chance to get hands-on and try it for yourself.

The course will be a 5am start on the farmyard, breakfast and lunch will be provided, featuring 100% grass-fed beef from our micro dairy. You'll also have the opportunity to sample cheese, yogurt, and ice cream made on the farm with our milk.
A “take home” handbook will be provided explaining each section we cover during the day. The course will cover all essential aspects, from registering with The Food Standards Agency and Local Authority, to monthly testing procedures and paperwork, and effective grazing management strategies.
To ensure a personalized learning experience, the course is limited to just six participants. This will provide ample opportunity for one-on-one attention and allow you to ask questions without feeling rushed.
