Pentrefelin Stud
Quality Welsh Ponies & Cobs
Through carefully chosen bloodlines, Pentrefelin
Stud prides itself on producing and breeding animals with the correct
conformation, type and quality to perform in all equine disciplines, be they
in-hand, riding or driving competitions. They must have kind even
temperaments, with the scope and length of stride to compete on equal terms
with larger breeds of horses, and the Welsh cob has always been prized for
it's soundness and versatility, making him an idea family horse. Our
broodmares have been carefully chosen with all these
factors in mind and are deep bodied cobs with plenty of heart room.
Pentrefelin Taliesin -
Senior Stud Stallion
sired by Nebo Prince, dam Ashbourne Mari Llwyd by
Oakhatch Cymydog Da
Now our lovely 20 yr old gelding
Pentrefelin Taliesin, has sired
stock which all inherit his extravagant, free, athletic action, making him an
ideal sire to produce competition horses. He has excellent conformation and he
is a truly correct example of his breed; winning major championships at home and
abroad and was regularly ridden by our teenage daughter, Beth.
Taliesin has sired Royal Welsh, Lampeter and Glanusk
winners, HOYS qualifiers, International Showjumpers , Dressage and International
Class Driving horses. He was 3 times premium stallion , and despite being
little used by outside studs, He has featured high up in the sire ratings. He is
in the top ten list of performance sires in the USA for all breeds.
He became infertile at the age of 18yrs so we decided
to give him his life back by gelding him and letting him be a member of the herd
with his daughters, instead of fretting about other stallions around the yard.
Champion Essex County Show as a 3yr old

Thorndonpark Jet.
By Nebo Prince ex Thorndonpark Jasmine( half sister to
Thorndonpark Pride) by Glantraeth Haig.
This lovely boy was purchased in the Spring Cob Sales
to run out with mares while Taliesin was at Milton Jones's Minyffordd Stud. We
showed him lightly with great success inc winning Bath and West, Supreme Avon
and Borders. We then sold him to Georgie Mitchell and Claire Granger of the
Dycott stud, ( Jet did not like men and I knew he was going to the right home,
when George Kissed him on the nose when he went into the box ) Clare broke him
to ride at the age of 11yrs and show jumped him over the winter, then he went
off to pursue a ridden career, qualifying for HOYS in 2008. His greatest
achievement was being awarded the male championship and overall reserve
champion at the Royal Welsh Show in 2006. This was one of the most special
moments in my life and it brings a tear to my eye just writing this.
This is a truly" Rags to Riches" story as a friend of
mine took the 2nd photo of Jet sometime prior to him being bought by us.

PENTREFELIN JAKE
Sire: Pentrefelin Taliesin . Dam; Synod Rumour by
Brynmor Welsh Magic
Jake was many times champion as a youngster, and
left me some lovely stock who all had an abundance of bone and substance.
His dam Synod Rumour is the dam of Trefforest Ribbon who we sold to Mr
Bennet of Kent before going on to be one of the Attrells best broodmares for
the Danaway Stud in Kent.
Jake stood at stud in Holland with Anja
De'Vleiger of the Cobtain Stud, where he produced some lovely championship
winning progeny who have gone all over Europe.
We made a hard decision to sell Jake as we cold
not use him on our Taliesin daughters and keep two of his sons, Sorento and
Ladykiller.
Jake was sold for £8,000 at Brightwells sale,
still one of the highest priced Cob stallions to be sold at auction.

PENREFELIN LLWYNOG
By Nebo Prince ex Llanfair May Lady
by Oakhatch Cymydog Da. (Llwynog is full brother to Pentrefelin Bonneddiges)
Chestnut stallion 6yrs 15.1hh .
Broken to ride by Carol Issacs and a really lovely person. Prolific
prizewinner in-hand and WPCS premium winner. Sire of Pentrefelin Darwin
winner Glanusk yearling colt class
Llwynog was sold to Somerset, where
he has left some lovely stock. Due to a virus he had to be sadly gelded.

ASHBOURNE MARI LLWYD
Sire:Oakhatch Cymydog Da. Dam:Pantanamlwg Melody
by Parc Welsh Flyer ex Pantanamlwg Fairy by Rhystyd Prince.
Dam of Pentrefelin Taliesin, and
Pentrefelin Primrose.
Truly a very lucky buy, bought from an advert in
H&H, because of her connection to Pantanamlwg Fairy and I was passing
through the West Midlands, where she was for sale at the time. Shown very
lightly by us, as she never really enjoyed it, went to our good friends'
Jane Speight and Alan Batsfords' the late, great Nebo Prince and gave me
the best Cob I have ever bred.
Bromley Princess
Sire: Parc Welsh Flyer. Dam : Rotherhide Rhianon
by Brenin Dafydd
This mare was purchased as a broodmare who
suffered badly from sweet itch. Her owners at the time described her as not
a show mare, I looked at her and saw something different, most certainly a
show mare. Our Essex Climate suited her and with lots of TLC we managed to
keep a full mane and tail. She started her show career with a medal winner
and supreme broodmare at East Anglian Native Pony Show, and ended the season
the same year winning the Junior Broodmare class at the Royal Welsh Show,
and her foal Pentrefelin Royal Express winning 2nd prize.
